Developer: 38 Studios 38 Studios was an American game development company based in Providence, Rhode Island. It is known for its co-development of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (2012). Founded in Maynard, Massachussetts by Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling in 2006 as Green Monster Games, the studio was planned to develop a fantasy MMORPG with the working title of Copernicus. In 2009, it acquired Big Huge Games, and in 2011, prompted by incentive funding provided by the governor of Rhode Island for companies to relocate to the state, the studio moved to Providence. The studio went bankrupt and folded In 2012 following financial troubles and its inability to make payments on the loan granted by the state of Rhode Island.

Developer: Big Huge Games Big Huge Games was an American game development studio based in Timonium, Maryland. Founded in 2000 by a quartet of veteran developers, the studio has been known best over the years for the Rise of Nations real-time strategy franchise (2003-2006); the action-RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (2012); and more recently for the mobile strategy-MMO DomiNations (2015). Originally-independent, the studio experienced financial troubles and was bought and sold several times over the ensuing years, having been owned by THQ, 38 Studios, and Epic Games, before going defunct for a short time. It was being reformed again as an independent studio by some of the original founders along with new ones, and operated for a few years under that status. The studio was acquired by Nexon in 2016 and currently remains a subsidiary, with its development focus on mobile strategy games.
