This policy explains what information Gamer Friendly (“we”, “us”) collects when you use gamerfriendly.io, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email admin@gamerfriendly.io.

Information we collect

When you create an account

• Sign-in details. Accounts are managed through Google Firebase Authentication. If you sign up with email, we receive your email address (your password is handled by Firebase and never stored by us). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture according to your Google account settings.
• Profile details you choose to add, such as a display name, avatar image, tagline, description and gaming or social account names.

When you use the site

• Content you post: game ratings, comments and votes.
• Profile picture uploads: the image, its file name and size, when you uploaded it and the IP address it came from, plus the moderator's decision. We use this to review pictures and to deal with abuse.
• Messages you send us through the contact form, including your name and email address.
• Technical and log data: your IP address, browser type (user agent), the pages you request, the referring page and the time of each request. If something goes wrong, our error reports can also include the form data that was submitted and, if you're signed in, your account email.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items:

• Essential: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, a security token that protects forms, and a saved record of your cookie choice. The site can't work without these.
• Analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics, which helps us understand how the site is used, such as which pages are popular.
• Advertising (only if you accept): Google AdSense, which shows ads on the site.

Analytics and advertising scripts aren't loaded until you choose Accept on the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time:

Advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

How we use information

• To run your account and show your ratings, comments and profile on the site.
• To calculate community ratings and help our staff certify games.
• To reply to messages and send account emails, such as email verification.
• To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix errors.
• To understand and improve the site (analytics, if you accept), and to show ads (if you accept).

What's public

Your display name, avatar, profile details, ratings and comments can be seen by anyone visiting the site. Your email address is not shown publicly.

Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with services that help us run the site:

• Google — Firebase Authentication (sign-in), and Google Analytics and AdSense if you accept cookies.
• Amazon Web Services — storage for uploaded avatar images, and sending email.
• Our hosting provider, which stores the site's database and logs.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the site and its users.

How long we keep it

We keep account information and your posts while your account is active. Request and error logs are kept only as long as they're useful for security and troubleshooting. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your personal information, except where we need to keep it for legal or security reasons.

Rejected profile pictures are deleted. A picture removed as illegal content is kept privately, with its upload details, for as long as the law requires us to preserve it.

Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile at any time from your account.
• Ask for a copy, correction or deletion of your information by emailing admin@gamerfriendly.io.
• Withdraw cookie consent with the Change Cookie Settings button above.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights, such as objecting to certain processing or complaining to your local data protection authority. We'll respond to requests within the time the law requires.

Children

Gamer Friendly isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no website or online service is completely secure.

Links to other sites

The site links to other websites, such as IGDB, game stores and news articles. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy covers only Gamer Friendly.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
